Rust Software Engineer
We think Rust is the best language for new systems software! Our core platform is all in Rust, from microservices in our distributed control plane to our high-performance data services. Everything we do is built on Linux and we’re rethinking how control and data planes are built on modern programmable kernels using eBPF, Wireguard, io_uring, and other such features. We think using these from Rust gives us the best balance of performance and safety for our customers. And it’s a lot of fun too!
Distributed Systems Engineer
If you enjoy distributed systems then you’re going to love this.. We have tightly-coupled cluster systems where low-latency strong semantics are vital, as well as worldwide eventually-consistent systems where nodes are hundreds of milliseconds apart.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping our service development and reliability, building shared infrastructure used by the whole organization, and spreading best practices throughout our engineering team. You’re motivated by high-impact projects, and enjoy digging deep into fundamentally challenging engineering problems. While time is an illusion, you enjoy debating the merits of it as an abstraction.
Serverless Container Engineer
You know serverless is how all cloud native applications will be built and you want to create the next generation of global serverless container systems for these modern workloads. We think there’s a lot of fun work to do especially for stateful and compute-intensive workloads like machine learning. Whether you’re a long-time serverless infrastructure developer, or just making the transition, we think you’ll enjoy working on our stack and contributing to open source communities as well as amazing our customers.
If you’re seeking broad and deep impact, you’ll enjoy making infrastructure decisions that touch everything we do. We’re looking for people with a strong background (or interest!) in both hardware and software systems. We’d love to hear from you whether you’re a seasoned systems developer, or you just learned you love working on cluster platforms. You’re motivated by high-impact projects, and enjoy digging deep into fundamentally challenging engineering problems as well as immediate practical needs affecting our business. You’re data driven, understand many layers of the stack, and have a strong interest in modern platform developments. You enjoy debating the merits of ARM vs x86 servers, GPUs vs other ML accelerators, and have a healthy skepticism for the zoo of complexity in modern large-scale software stacks. Senior candidates probably have, on more than one occasion, threatened to replace Kubernetes with a set of small shell scripts.
Performance engineering is core to what we do! Our users expect world-class efficiency with every millisecond of compute doing useful work for their applications. You’ll enjoy operating with high autonomy, focusing on the problems of highest leverage across our stack, and influencing new software and systems development. Your tools will be used by both your engineering colleagues and our customers. And by you, of course, as you dive deep on our systems to drive cost and performance optimizations, and evaluate technology choices to reduce resource consumption and request latency. Communication skills are vital, as you evangelize new performance techniques, both inside and outside the company.
As a Developer Evangelist, you will focus on delighting our user community with the ability to rapidly build global serverless containerized applications. You’ll advocate for our customers, both internally and externally, to make sure we have the best serverless developer platform in the world. As well as creating content to show the ease of use, power and flexibility of Seaplane, you aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and work directly with customers in building applications.
Backend / Microservices Engineer
Site Reliability Engineer
We build and operate high-traffic distributed systems on public clouds such as AWS, GCP, Azure, as well as our own global deployments in PoPs around the world and at the edge. As an SRE, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our service development and reliability, building shared infrastructure used by the whole organization, and spreading best practices throughout our engineering team. You’re motivated by high-impact projects, and enjoy digging deep into fundamentally challenging engineering problems as well as immediate practical needs affecting our business.
